A Case of Gonococcal Conjunctivitis in Child

Abstract
Gonococcal ocular disease can be divided into two distinct forms, one affecting neonates and the other affecting sexually active adults. Gonococcal ocular infection in sexually inactive age is quite rare.
The author experienced a case of gonococcal conjunctivitis in 10 year old boy who were sexually inactive. A Gram stain of conjunctival exudate showed Gram negative intracellular diplococci and confirmed by culture.
This patient was treated with topical, subconjunctival and systemic antibiotics and corticosteroids with almost complete resolution.
